NAF Holds Fourth Quarter Route March to Strengthen Troop Readiness, Pays Tribute to Fallen Heroes

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) held its Fourth Quarter 2024 Route March exercise today, a coordinated event across all NAF formations nationwide. Personnel from various units participated, displaying their physical and mental resilience, which underlines NAF’s commitment to operational readiness.

The exercise, held in Abuja, was graced by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, who highlighted the importance of physical and mental preparedness for the nation’s air personnel amidst Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.

Speaking at the event, Air Marshal Abubakar reiterated the NAF’s commitment to continuous training as part of his Command Philosophy’s key principle of “Deliberate Training and Mission-oriented Force Development.” This approach aims to enhance and sustain the operational effectiveness of the NAF.

Additionally, the CAS announced plans to upgrade NAF’s sports facilities, including constructing a modern gym at the NAF Special Operations Command and refurbishing existing facilities across other units.

He encouraged personnel to engage regularly in physical activities to boost fitness, foster teamwork, and uncover potential sports talents within the force.

Plans are also underway for youth sporting competitions on NAF bases, aiming to engage and inspire young talent.

The NAF reaffirmed its commitment to providing essential resources and training to support personnel in their operational duties.

The exercise concluded with a strong message on maintaining vigilance, adaptability, and resilience as security demands continue to evolve.

Notably, the NAF’s male volleyball team, recently promoted to the Premier League after topping the National Division 1 Volleyball League, was congratulated for its remarkable achievement.

A solemn moment punctuated the event as Air Marshal Abubakar led a tribute for five NAF personnel who tragically lost their lives in a recent accident while on their way to represent Nigeria at the African Military Games 2024 in Abuja.

Attendees observed a minute of silence in memory of these fallen heroes, underscoring the sacrifices of NAF personnel in service to the nation.

Air Marshal Abubakar assured that the NAF would always honor the memories of its fallen heroes and remain steadfast in supporting their families.
