NAF Conducts Successful Airstrikes to Support Power Restoration Efforts in Kaduna and Northwestern States

In a strategic mission to support ongoing power restoration efforts across Kaduna and other northwestern states, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) successfully conducted a series of air interdiction operations on November 1, 2024.

The operations targeted terrorist hideouts deep within Alawa Forest in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

These strikes are part of a larger effort to secure critical power infrastructure and facilitate uninterrupted progress in restoring electricity to affected regions.

The air interdictions were based on detailed Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions, which confirmed that terrorist groups were gathering to disrupt power restoration activities.

Acting swiftly on this intelligence, NAF’s air component coordinated and executed a precise airstrike, effectively neutralizing several terrorist fighters and destroying their logistics resources. NAF crews, who observed the terrorists converging at the target area, engaged and successfully dismantled the threat with precise firepower.I

n addition to the airstrikes, the NAF has ramped up armed reconnaissance along essential power lines from Shiroro Lake to Damba, maintaining aerial surveillance to prevent any further interference with the power restoration efforts.

This continuous mission highlights NAF’s dedication to working alongside other security agencies to protect vital infrastructure and ensure the timely restoration of essential services for Kaduna and neighboring states.

Air Commodore Olusola F. Akinboyewa, Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to supporting these critical restoration efforts, ensuring that security remains steadfast around power installations.
