NAF Airstrikes Neutralize Terrorists, Destroy Gun Truck, and Repel Attack on Troops in Borno State

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) dealt a significant blow to terrorist elements in Kukawa, Borno State, on November 25, 2024, through two precision airstrike missions executed under Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK).

The operations successfully destroyed a gun truck, neutralized several fighters, and repelled an attack on ground troops, reaffirming the NAF’s commitment to safeguarding the nation.

According to a statement released by Air Commodore Olusola F. Akinboyewa, the Director of Public Relations and Information, the first mission targeted a terrorists’ gun truck located approximately 5 kilometers west of Kukawa.

Acting on credible intelligence, NAF fighter jets launched a swift and precise strike, destroying the gun truck and significantly weakening the terrorists’ operational capacity.

In a related operation, the Air Component of OPHK responded to a distress call from ground troops under attack in Kukawa. The troops were engaged in intense combat with terrorists mounted on motorcycles. NAF air assets promptly intervened, launching coordinated strikes that neutralized numerous terrorists and forced others to flee.

Ground forces subsequently recovered over 20 motorcycles abandoned by the fleeing assailants and are currently pursuing the injured and retreating fighters.

The NAF emphasized its unwavering commitment to restoring peace and security in the region and reiterated its readiness to provide continued airpower support to ground forces and other security agencies.

The success of these operations highlights the synergy between air and ground forces in combating terrorism and reflects ongoing efforts to achieve lasting stability in Nigeria.
