NAF Airstrikes Eliminate Scores of Boko Haram Terrorists in Borno State

In a coordinated and decisive operation, Nigerian Air Force (NAF) airstrikes have neutralized scores of Boko Haram terrorists in Bula Marwa, Borno State.

The operation, which took place on 25 October 2024, targeted two high-level meeting points used by the insurgents, marking a significant blow to their operational capabilities in the region.

Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions had earlier identified Bula Marwa as a strategic meeting location for Boko Haram operatives, detecting increased motorcycle activity and gatherings of fighters.

Acting on this intelligence, NAF deployed fighter jets to the area for an air interdiction mission.

ISR footage captured suspected terrorists arriving at a rendezvous point on 12 motorcycles, which were subsequently tracked to a primary meeting site where additional fighters were stationed.

In a precise first airstrike, NAF jets targeted the gathering, effectively striking the site.

ISR aircraft, monitoring the aftermath, observed several terrorists attempting to assess the damage and assist the wounded, leading NAF air assets to launch follow-up strikes that neutralized more terrorists.

Later the same day, ISR identified another group of terrorists assembling under a large tree at a secondary meeting location.

Following verification, NAF launched a precision airstrike on the site, delivering a direct hit that further diminished Boko Haram’s presence in the area.

These targeted airstrikes not only eliminated numerous fighters but also destroyed their motorcycles, limiting their mobility and ability to execute future attacks.

This successful mission underscores the role of the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI in countering terrorism in northeastern Nigeria.

Air Commodore Olusola F. Akinboyewa, Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, reiterated the Air Force’s commitment to executing its mission with precision and dedication to protect Nigeria’s sovereignty and security.
