Ministry of Defence Reaffirms Commitment to Military Healthcare and Training Infrastructure

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Ambassador Gabriel Tanimu Aduda, has reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery and training infrastructure within the Nigerian Armed Forces.

During an official tour of facilities in Kaduna, Ambassador Aduda inspected the newly completed 100-bed Medical Interns Accommodation Facility at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital (NARH). The modern facility, which includes en-suite rooms, fully furnished common areas, recreational lounges, and a solar-powered alternative energy system, was designed to offer a comfortable and sustainable living environment for medical interns.

Speaking after the inspection, Ambassador Aduda praised the standard of the accommodation, emphasizing that quality living conditions are key to boosting the morale and productivity of healthcare professionals serving the military.

“By investing in quality living conditions, we empower our interns to focus on their responsibilities without distraction, ultimately improving healthcare outcomes for our gallant men and women in uniform,” he said.

He also highlighted the importance of reliable infrastructure such as steady power supply and well-equipped communal spaces in promoting efficiency and wellbeing among residents.

In a related engagement, the Permanent Secretary visited the Special Operations Forces Training Ground at the Nigerian Army School of Infantry, Camp Kabala, where he assessed ongoing training activities. Accompanied by the Camp Commandant, Major General FS Etim, Ambassador Aduda commended the professionalism, discipline, and readiness of the troops undergoing training.

He was joined on the visits by senior officials including Dr. Sunday Attah, Director of Army Affairs at the Ministry of Defence; Brigadier General GS Ogoh, Director of Medical Services at the 44 NARH; and other ministry representatives.

The visits are part of the Ministry’s broader strategic agenda to enhance the welfare of military personnel and build capacity through continuous investment in infrastructure and human capital.
