Ministry of Defence Commended by NAWOJ for Security Efforts

The Ministry of Defence received accolades from the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) for its unwavering commitment to ensuring peace and security within Nigeria.

H.E Mohammad Badaru Abubakar, the Honourable Minister of Defence, reaffirmed the government’s dedication to safeguarding the nation during a courtesy visit by NAWOJ officials led by Chairperson Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim at Ship House, Abuja.

Minister Badaru praised NAWOJ’s diligent reporting on security matters, underscoring the pivotal role of women journalists in advancing national security objectives.

He emphasized the necessity of collective action in combating insecurity, citing significant reductions in insurgency in the northeast, particularly in Borno State, during the recent Sallah celebrations.

He attributed these achievements to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s resolute commitment to security across Nigeria.

Expressing gratitude for NAWOJ’s efforts, Minister Badaru pledged to collaborate closely with the association, highlighting its potential to educate women on deradicalization strategies for their children.

He urged all stakeholders, including professional bodies, faith-based organizations, and citizens, to join hands in the fight against insecurity.

In response, Chairperson Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim lauded Minister Badaru’s appointment and commended government initiatives in curbing insurgency.

She noted a significant decrease in insurgent activities, highlighting the successful and secure observance of the last Sallah celebrations in Biu and other parts of the northeast.

She deemed the peaceful festivities in Borno State as evidence of the efficacy of government security measures.

The exchange between the Ministry of Defence and NAWOJ underscores the collaborative efforts necessary for achieving and sustaining peace and security in Nigeria.
