The Honourable Minister of Defence, Muhammed Badaru Abubakar has underscored the necessity for joint operations among Nigeria’s security forces in tackling modern conflicts.
Addressing attendees at the Air Power Consult Senior Leadership Forum, the Minister emphasized that success in modern conflict resolution requires the integration of all elements of national power.
In his closing remarks, Minister Badaru highlighted the inefficacy of relying solely on one branch of the armed forces to address complex contemporary challenges.
He stressed the need for a comprehensive, whole-of-government approach to conflict resolution, emphasizing the importance of jointness among military services.
“It is imperative that we move beyond rhetoric and prioritize jointness as a fundamental aspect of our strategic approach,” remarked Minister Badaru. He lauded Nigeria’s efforts in conceptualizing and incorporating joint operations into military training and affirmed the Ministry of Defence’s commitment to further enhancing collaboration among the armed forces.
Acknowledging the Air Power Consult for organizing the forum, Minister Badaru commended the retired senior Nigerian Air Force officers for their dedication to national security.
He expressed gratitude for their efforts in facilitating discussions on emerging threats and trends in the battlespace, underscoring the pivotal role of air power in modern conflict resolution.
While recognizing the aspirations of various security agencies to acquire air assets, Minister Badaru emphasized the importance of rationalizing such desires within the framework of the Nigerian Air Force’s mandate.
He urged a balanced approach to resource allocation, ensuring optimal utilization of existing capabilities.
Furthermore, Minister Badaru emphasized the disruptive nature of emerging technologies in warfare and conflict resolution.
He stressed the need for Nigeria to leverage these technologies to maintain its military superiority in the region and effectively address security challenges.
The Minister outlined plans to foster collaboration with relevant government ministries and agencies to drive innovation and technology integration within the defence sector.
