Meet CP Olatunji Rilwan Disu: The New FCT Commissioner of Police


CP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, an experienced law enforcement officer with an impressive career spanning over three decades, has been appointed as the 32nd Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Disu brings a wealth of knowledge, expertise, and leadership to his new role, underpinned by his extensive academic and professional background.

Born on April 13, 1966, Disu hails from Lagos State. His educational journey began at Lagos State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Education in 1990.

He later pursued advanced studies, obtaining a Post Graduate Diploma in International Relations and Strategic Studies from the same university in 2000.

Disu furthered his academic qualifications with a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Adekunle Ajasin University, Ondo State, and a Master’s degree in Criminology, Security, and Legal Psychology from Lagos State University in 2022.

Since joining the Nigeria Police Force as an Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1992, Disu has held several key positions across various states.

His notable assignments include serving as the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Owo and Ikare, Ondo State, leading the Anti-Kidnapping Unit in Rivers State, and commanding the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in both Ondo and Oyo States.

In addition, Disu has held prominent roles such as Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Lagos, Officer in Charge of the Anti-Fraud Unit in Katsina State, and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigations Department, in Rivers State.

His international experience includes leading Nigeria’s first police contingent on an African Union peacekeeping mission to Darfur, Sudan.

CP Disu has also completed specialized training courses in various fields, including Small Arms Smuggling in Botswana and Internet Fraud Detection at Cambridge University, UK.

He is a member of several prestigious organizations, such as the International Institute of Certified Forensic Investigation Professionals, the International Academy of Forensics, and the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP).

His leadership, experience, and professional accomplishments make him a distinguished figure within the Nigeria Police Force, and his appointment as the FCT Commissioner of Police is expected to bring new energy to policing efforts in the nation’s capital.
