The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, emphasized the pivotal role of the media in military operations during a meeting with the Director General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Dr. Mohammed Bulama, and his management team at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja today.
General Musa lauded the FRCN for its unwavering dedication despite numerous challenges.
He highlighted the ongoing efforts of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) to build a better nation, affirming the military’s readiness to collaborate with FRCN to combat criminal activities across the country.
“My leadership philosophy is people-centric,” General Musa stated, acknowledging the necessity of public cooperation for the effective functioning of the AFN.
He reassured that the military would continue to operate with professionalism, decorum, and adherence to the rule of law in its mission to defend democracy.
Furthermore, he stressed the media’s critical role in reshaping inaccurate narratives about military operations.
In his remarks, Dr. Bulama expressed gratitude for the military’s contribution to sustaining democracy in Nigeria, describing their efforts as patriotic.
He pledged FRCN’s commitment to partnering with the military, particularly in employing non-kinetic strategies to combat insurgency and extremism.
Dr. Bulama also assured that FRCN would provide platforms to counter radical ideologies and support the AFN’s initiatives.
The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to enhance cooperation between the military and the media, recognizing the media’s influence in fostering national security and public support.
