Measures in Place to Prevent further attacks on INEC Facilities Nationwide -IGP


The Nigeria Police says it has put in place measures to prevent further attacks on facilities owned by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC across the country.

The Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali-Baba, stated this in Abuja during the last IGP conference with strategic police officers for the year,

The Police Boss, who decried the unfortunate incidents said the culprits were able to carry out the attacks by throwing improvised explosive devices from a distance to the facilities.

He explained that the meeting will serve as a platform for reviewing strategies and ensuring that security measures are put in place both within and outside these facilities.

The IGP who reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria police to stabilizing the country’s internal security said adequate operational assets have deployed in the six geopolitical zones of the country to sustain peace and order.

He added that the Police will be collaborating with other security agencies to ensure free fair and credible elections next year.
