In a recent press statement released by the Federal Ministry of Defence, Honourable Minister of State, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, condemned the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) for their divisive actions against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
The statement labeled the NEF as a political burden to the North and emphasized that they do not represent the sentiments of the entire region.
Matawalle criticized the NEF for attempting to undermine President Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 presidential election and for failing to recognize the positive developments being brought to the North by the Tinubu-led administration.
He highlighted the NEF’s lack of engagement with key government officials and their apparent focus on fault-finding rather than constructive dialogue.
Furthermore, Matawalle urged the NEF and similar groups to support the current government and collaborate with President Tinubu to move the country forward.
He emphasized that President Tinubu’s leadership is not defined by ethnicity but by his commitment to national development.
The statement concluded with a call for unity and cooperation among all stakeholders for the betterment of Nigeria, dismissing the NEF’s criticism as unfounded and out of touch with the reality of the country’s progress under President Tinubu’s leadership.
