Matawalle Celebrates Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary, Commends Armed Forces and President Tinubu


The Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, MON, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the Armed Forces, and all Nigerians as the country celebrates its 64th Independence Anniversary.

In a statement issued on Monday, Dr. Matawalle expressed pride in the nation’s journey, highlighting the resilience and strength that have carried Nigeria through its many challenges. “Nigeria’s journey has been one of resilience and strength.

As we commemorate our independence, we must renew our commitment to safeguarding the unity, peace, and security of our nation,” the Minister said.

He also paid glowing tribute to the Nigerian Armed Forces, recognizing their crucial role in preserving the country’s sovereignty. “Our military remains the cornerstone of our national sovereignty. Their dedication and sacrifices ensure that Nigeria continues to stand strong as a free and secure nation,” Matawalle emphasized.

Dr. Matawalle further called for national unity, urging Nigerians to come together in solidarity to build a peaceful and prosperous future. He noted that this anniversary offers a moment to reflect on the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu’s administration, underscoring the enduring resilience of the Nigerian people. “Nigerians have demonstrated an unyielding spirit and capacity, and we must build on this,” he added.

The Minister also commended President Tinubu’s efforts in bolstering the military through enhanced training and capacity building, particularly in the fight against insurgency, banditry, and other criminal activities.

He urged the Armed Forces to intensify their efforts in collaboration with other agencies to eradicate insecurity.

“As we celebrate our 64th independence, we recognize the progress made and challenges overcome. Nigeria remains one indivisible country, and we thank God for that,” Matawalle concluded, wishing President Tinubu, the military, and all Nigerians a memorable Independence Day celebration.
