Kwara Police Command Assures Residents of Protection Following Prison Escape in Neighboring Niger State

In response to the recent prison escape in neighboring Niger State, the Kwara State Police Command has issued a statement assuring residents of their safety and security measures in place.

According to the spokesperson of the command, DSP Ejire-Adeyemi Toun, a severe rainstorm during the night caused extensive damage to the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Suleja, Niger State, resulting in the escape of over one hundred inmates.

The statement highlighted the swift response of the Nigerian Correctional Service, which promptly activated recapturing protocols. As a result, 13 of the escaped inmates have already been recovered. Collaborative efforts with other security agencies are ongoing to recapture the remaining fugitives.

Recognizing the security implications of such incidents, particularly for neighboring states like Kwara, the statement emphasized the proactive stance of the Kwara State Police Command. Measures have been implemented to prevent any attempt by the escaped inmates to enter the state or cause harm within its borders.

The statement concluded with a call to vigilance, urging citizens to remain observant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest security agency for swift action.
