The 6th edition of the Nigeria Silent Heroes Award, a prestigious event recognizing the sacrifices and contributions of unsung heroes to national development, was held in Abuja.
The ceremony celebrated individuals whose efforts have significantly impacted the nation, often without widespread recognition.
Among those honored was the Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo. Governor Ododo, recognized for his outstanding strides in security management within Kogi State.
In his acceptance remarks, Ododo who was represented by Ade Peters Oyetoke, the Registrar of the Chartered Institute of Information and Strategic Management,commended the organizers of the event and vowed to intensify efforts to secure the state further.
He emphasized the importance of leveraging Kogi State’s tourism potential as a means to boost the state’s economy, highlighting a multifaceted approach to development and security.
The event was graced by several dignitaries, including Senator Ned Nwoko, who served as the Special Guest of Honour.
Senator Nwoko praised the initiative of the awards, noting that recognizing the contributions of everyday heroes is crucial for fostering a spirit of patriotism and dedication among citizens.
The convener, Sonia Odita, said the platform was put together to celebrate the unsung heroes of Nigeria, highlighting their significant, often unnoticed contributions to the country’s progress.
She emphasized the need for more platforms like this to encourage and motivate these individuals, hoping that their recognition would inspire others to contribute positively to the nation’s development.
A significant highlight of the evening was the launch of a compendium titled “Silent Heroes in Nigeria” by Odita Sunday.
This publication aims to document and celebrate the achievements of numerous individuals who have made remarkable contributions to the nation’s growth and development, often operating behind the scenes.
