The cost and commitment required for effective Kingdom service were the focus of Sunday’s message at the Refreshing Word Christian Centre, Kubwa, as Pastor Boniface Onwuanaku delivered a soul-stirring sermon titled “The Price for Kingdom Service.”
Addressing the congregation, Pastor Onwuanaku began by highlighting that Kingdom service comes with a price—one that demands sacrifice, obedience, and a reordering of priorities.
He explained that believers must be willing to let go of personal comforts, desires, and even relationships to truly serve God. According to him, until a Christian gets to the point where there is nothing they cannot give up for the sake of the Kingdom, they have not fully embraced the cost of service.
Quoting Romans 10:9 and Romans 8:36, he noted that the first step in Kingdom service is salvation—making Jesus the Lord of one’s life. Beyond that, he stressed the need for diligence in seeking God, referencing Hebrews 11:6. “You must be consistent, available, and intentional about placing God first in everything,” he charged.
Pastor Onwuanaku emphasized that effective service means arranging one’s life around the things of God, not the other way around.
He described Kingdom service not as a burden, but as a divine privilege. Referencing 1 Corinthians 3:9 and 2 Corinthians 6:1, he reminded worshippers that they are co-workers with God, called to fulfill specific roles in His Kingdom.
Drawing from Ephesians 4:16, he explained that every believer is a vital part of the body of Christ and has a unique contribution to make.
Using Nehemiah 6:3 and Hebrews 12:28, Pastor Onwuanaku encouraged the congregation to attach great value to whatever assignment God has given them. “There is a right way to serve God, and that begins with understanding what the King wants,” he said, citing Esther 2:15 and Acts 9:6 to stress the importance of obedience. He warned that service based on personal preference instead of divine instruction is incomplete.
He acknowledged that obeying God’s call may be difficult, but added that God’s grace is sufficient and His burden is light. Referencing Job 36:11 and 1 Peter 2:21, he pointed to Jesus Christ as the perfect example of sacrificial service—one who gave His all for the sake of the Kingdom, as seen in Matthew 20:23–28 and 1 John 3:16.
Pastor Onwuanaku concluded by urging believers to evaluate what they are willing to give up in order to serve God more effectively. “The price for Kingdom service is not in words—it is in action, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to do the will of the King,” he said.
The message left the congregation challenged and inspired to deepen their devotion and prioritize Kingdom assignments above all else.
