Kefiano Backs Forensic Approach as Erelu Ogbulu Launches “Fraud Unmasked” at Joint Security Conference

Renowned economist, energy expert, and forensic fraud specialist, HRH Erelu Dr. Pearl Chidinma Ogbulu, on Thursday unveiled her latest book, Fraud Unmasked: Forensic Fraud Solutions, and formally opened the First Joint Security Forensic Conference in Abuja, calling for a united front against fraud and insecurity in Nigeria.

The event, themed “One Nation, One Network”, brought together top security chiefs, forensic experts, and private sector leaders to push for real-time data sharing, coordinated strategies, and a multidisciplinary approach to tackling fraud. Dr. Ogbulu described fraud as a “silent predator” that undermines trust, drains resources, and stifles development, stressing the need for proactive and strategic interventions.

“Fraud Unmasked is not just a book; it is a toolkit,” she said. “It offers tested forensic methods, investigative insights, and policy recommendations that can help detect, prevent, and respond to fraud with precision.”

One of the standout voices at the event was Chief Wungak Kefas Ropshik — popularly known as Kefiano — CEO of Kefiano Autos, who hailed the book as a timely and practical resource in the fight against financial and corporate crime. Kefiano urged the government to go beyond prosecution by rehabilitating offenders and reintegrating them into society, noting that true security requires both justice and social reintegration.

He further stressed the importance of employing only competent and trustworthy personnel in sensitive positions, pledging continued partnership with the government to create sustainable youth engagement programmes aimed at steering young people away from crime.

“When the youth are gainfully engaged, crime rates will drop significantly,” he said, adding that security agencies, private sector actors, and community leaders must work together to “clean the system from within.”

The Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, represented by DIG A. A. Hamza, also endorsed the book, saying it aligns with the core mandate of the Nigeria Police Force to prevent and detect crime. He commended the growing inter-agency synergy in recent years and highlighted the role of forensic science in aiding successful prosecution.

The conference will feature expert presentations on forensic science, cybersecurity, risk management, and governance, aimed at equipping institutions with the tools and technologies to strengthen Nigeria’s anti-fraud framework.

Dr. Ogbulu closed her remarks with a call to action: “Fraud and insecurity are not someone else’s problems — they affect every home, business, and community. Our fight must be informed, united, and relentless.”
