Kalu condemns the Brutal Killing of 16 Travellers in Edo, Calls for Justice

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has strongly condemned the horrific mob attack that led to the killing of 16 travellers from the northern region of the country in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State. Describing the act as barbaric and a grave violation of human rights, he emphasized that such senseless violence must not be condoned in any form.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Kalu expressed deep concern over the tragic incident, stressing that every Nigerian has the right to move freely and safely without fear. He called on security agencies to act swiftly in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directives to ensure that those responsible are apprehended and face the full weight of the law.

The Deputy Speaker also extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, acknowledging the immense grief and loss they are enduring. He assured the public that justice will be served and urged security forces to leave no stone unturned in their investigations.

Furthermore, he appealed for calm among citizens, urging communities to refrain from actions that could escalate tensions. He emphasized the need for unity, law, and order, reminding Nigerians that violence only breeds more pain and suffering.

“My prayers are with the families of the victims during this difficult time. May the Almighty grant them the strength to bear this irreparable loss,” Kalu stated.
