A special committee established by the Kaduna State House of Assembly has presented a shocking report, alleging misconduct and potential money laundering activities by former Governor Nasir El-Rufai. The committee, chaired by Henry Zacharia, found that loans acquired during El-Rufai’s tenure were not used for their intended purposes, and proper procedures were not followed.
The report revealed a staggering N423 billion in alleged misappropriation, leaving the state with significant liabilities. The committee recommends legal action and investigation by security and anti-corruption authorities against El-Rufai and his team for unlawful contract awards, misuse of public funds, money laundering, and reckless borrowing.
The Speaker, Yusuf Liman, expressed concern over the findings, and the Assembly is expected to take further action. This development marks a significant turning point in the state’s quest for accountability and transparency.
