IGP Meets Ogun Traditional Rulers, Promises Enhanced Security


Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, continued his strategic visit to Ogun State on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, with engagements with prominent traditional rulers including the Akarigbo of Remo Land,His Royal Majesty, Oba Adewale Ajayi, and the Awujale of Ijebuland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Sikiru Adetona.

The meeting underscored the crucial role traditional institutions play in maintaining peace and security within communities.

Recognizing this, the IGP emphasized the importance of collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and traditional rulers to ensure the safety of citizens.

In a noteworthy development, the Akarigbo of Remo Land pledged to construct student hostels for the Police Secondary School in Batoro, Sagamu, demonstrating a commitment to supporting law enforcement efforts.

Additionally, he called for increased police presence in Sagamu to bolster security in the area, a move welcomed by the IGP who assured the traditional ruler of the Force’s support in realizing these initiatives.

Similarly, the Awujale of Ijebuland highlighted the need for logistical support in enhancing security infrastructure in Ijebu land and other communities in Ogun State.

The IGP assured that the Nigeria Police Force would provide the necessary resources to address security challenges in the area.

The IGP also visited his hometown Ilaro, where he engaged with traditional rulers, including the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount ruler of Yewaland, Oba Dr Kehinde Olugbenle, to solicit continued support for law enforcement efforts.

Notably, the establishment of a Police Mobile Force base in the Ogun West Senatorial District was announced to curb criminal activities along the borders.

Expressing gratitude for the support received, the Inspector General of Police reassured the traditional rulers of the Force’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property in Ogun State and beyond.
