The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, commenced a two-day official visit to Enugu State on January 3, 2025, as part of efforts to bolster security and strengthen ties with stakeholders in the South-East region.
Accompanied by senior police officers, including the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) for the South-East, DIG Frank Mba, mni; AIG Zone 13, AIG Godwin N. Aghaulor; AIG FCID Annex, Enugu, AIG Kwazhi Bzigu Dali, mni; and Commissioners of Police for Enugu and Anambra States, the IGP outlined plans to enhance security infrastructure and foster collaboration during the visit.
In a key engagement, the IGP met with the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter N. Mbah, to discuss strategies for improving the state’s security framework.
He assured the Governor of the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property and maintaining peace in the state and the country at large.
The IGP also engaged with the Enugu Council of Traditional Rulers, where he was warmly received by the Chairman, His Royal Majesty Igwe Samuel Asabo, and other traditional leaders.
During the meeting, the IGP highlighted the critical role of traditional institutions in community-based security efforts and called for their continued collaboration in tackling security challenges.
Addressing police personnel in the state, IGP Egbetokun emphasized the importance of discipline, professionalism, and empathy in their duties.
He urged officers to maintain high ethical standards and foster trust with citizens in their daily operations.
The visit underscores the IGP’s dedication to community-oriented policing, trust-building, and proactive crime prevention in the South-East region.
