The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Egbetokun Olukayode Adeolu, PhD, NPM, decorated eight newly promoted Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and fifteen Commissioners of Police (CPs) during a ceremony held at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja, on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.
The decorated officers, who received their new ranks amidst cheers from family, friends, and colleagues, had been promoted by the Police Service Commission at the request of the IGP.
The officers elevated to AIG include Benneth Igwe, Suleiman Mohammed Abdul, Augustina Nwuka Ogbodo, Stephen Olanrewaju, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha, Adegboyega Funsho Adegboye, and Mohammed Bala Labbo.
Meanwhile, officers promoted to the rank of CP include Innocent Ifeanyi Emenari, Betty Enekpen Otimenyin, James Iroegbunam Nwokolo, Felix Nka Oben, and others.
Several high-profile figures attended the ceremony, including His Excellency Barrister Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Right Honorable Anayo Onwuegbu, Former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Victor Attah, Former Governor of Imo State, Dr. Achike Odinwa, and NBA President, Mazi Afam Josiah SAN.
In addition to the decorations, IGP Egbetokun announced the deployment of the newly promoted officers to various commands and formations across the country.
Among the key postings are AIG Mohammed Ali to Zone 1, AIG Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha to Zone 2, and CP Ibrahim Balarabe to Western PAP.
While congratulating the officers, the IGP urged them to remain committed to upholding the rule of law and meeting the expectations of citizens as ambassadors of the Nigeria Police Force.
He reiterated the Force’s ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all Nigerians.
