The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has taken significant steps in reorganizing the Nigeria Police Force with the decoration of Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) Jonathan Towuru, mni, and his immediate posting to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID).
The event took place on January 22, 2025, at the Police Force Headquarters in Abuja.
DIG Towuru, a highly experienced and dedicated officer, is expected to bring his extensive expertise to the FCID, further enhancing its capacity to conduct complex investigations and improve crime management across the country.
The IGP noted that this strategic appointment aims to bolster the department’s contribution to effective and efficient policing.
In another development, the IGP has announced the deployment of two Commissioners of Police to strengthen security in key states. CP Miller Gajere Dantawaye has been posted to Kogi State, while CP Betty Enekpen Otimenyin will assume duties in Edo State.
These deployments are part of the IGP’s commitment to ensuring public safety, maintaining order, and enhancing the operational efficiency of the Police Force.
The IGP emphasized the critical role of leadership in tackling crime and expressed confidence in the abilities of the newly deployed officers to uphold integrity and diligence in their respective commands.
He reiterated the Force’s dedication to advancing policing standards and ensuring justice and community service remain at the forefront of police operations.
This latest reorganization reflects the IGP’s vision of building a well-equipped and responsive police force capable of addressing emerging security challenges.
