Idumuje Ward 8 of Aniocha North Local Government Area, Delta State, has passed a vote of implicit confidence in Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, praising his leadership style and commitment to peace and development across the state.
The endorsement was part of resolutions reached at a stakeholders’ meeting held on Friday at Idumuje Unor, attended by party leaders and members from Idumuje Unor, Idumuje Ugboko, and Aniofu.
Speaking at the event, the leader of Ward 8 and former PDP Chairman of Aniocha North, Ogbuefi Nnamdi Mohanye, expressed satisfaction with the unity among party members.
He reaffirmed that the ward would remain the epicenter of the PDP in the local government and beyond.
Also addressing the gathering, Delta State Commissioner for Special Duties (Government House), Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, assured members that Governor Oborevwori is committed to the progress of Ward 8 and the entire state.
He urged them to remain steadfast in their support for the PDP, emphasizing that the administration would continue to deliver democratic dividends through empowerment and development initiatives.
A motion for a vote of confidence in the governor was moved by Sir Jossy Honnah, Executive Assistant on Special Duties to the Governor, and seconded by Comrade Norbert Chiazor, Executive Assistant on Media.
The stakeholders unanimously upheld their support for Oborevwori, stating that he had effectively governed the state in under two years by providing social infrastructure and fostering human capital development.
Addressing the recent defection of Senator Ned Nwoko from the PDP to the APC, the ward leaders emphasized that Idumuje Ward 8 remains a PDP stronghold, noting its significant voting strength in Aniocha North.
They expressed optimism that the ward would continue its long-standing loyalty to the party.
The meeting also appreciated Governor Oborevwori’s administration for appointing Idumuje indigenes into key positions.
Additionally, they appealed to the governor to expedite the approval and construction of Oseji Road in Idumuje Unor, named after a late Supreme Court Justice from the community.
The event was attended by notable personalities, including the Vice Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government, Lady Nneka Dibia; Senior Special Assistant on Orientation, Mr. Owen Junior Dibia; PDP Ward 8 Chairman, Comrade Clement Chiazor; councillors, and other party stakeholders.
