On April 14, 2024, Pastor Adeeko of the Refreshing Word Christian Centre Kubwa, Abuja, delivered an empowering sermon at his church on the topic of “Making your way Prosperous,” which was based on Joshua 1:1-9. His message was clear – with or without the help of you, Gods mission will be accomplished. Here’s a summary of his sermon.
1. Speak the WORD
Pastor Adeeko started by emphasizing the importance of speaking the Word of God in our lives. He highlighted Proverbs 18:21, which says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.” He encouraged his listeners to use their words to build rather than destroy their lives.
2. Meditation on the Word
Another key point the pastor made was about meditation on God’s Word. According to him, meditation means pondering on the Word, paying attention to it, and muttering it to oneself. He added that meditation had many benefits.
Advantages of Meditation:
i. Helps to paint a picture of the WORD on the canvas of your heart – Pastor Adeeko stated that meditation helps to create a clear picture of the Word in one’s heart. Your life is drawn towards the picture you see in your heart, which is why it’s vital to focus on the Word of God. He referenced Proverbs 12:20 and Jeremiah 1:12, which says, “What are you seeing?” He went on to say that whatever is happening right now in our lives is the picture that we’ve been seeing all along, something we’ve been exposing our hearts to.
ii. Meditation sows the seed of God’s Word in our hearts – The pastor explained that meditation sows the seed of God’s Word in our hearts. He cited 1 Peter 1:23 and Luke 8:11. According to him, the seed is the Word of God, which is planted in our hearts through meditation. We can’t reap healing, prosperity without sowing the seed of the Word of God in our hearts.
iii. Meditation helps us to understand God’s Word – Pastor Adeeko said that through meditation, we could gain a deep understanding of God’s Word. He referenced various Bible verses such as Luke 1:25-45, John 1:1-3, John 1:14, Luke 2:6-7, and Mark 4:30-32.
It was a profound message that urged everyone to apply the principles of speaking the Word and meditating on God’s Word to their lives in order to make their way prosperous with God. Pastor Adeeko’s message was an inspiration for everyone to start cultivating a healthy and positive relationship with God through their speech and actions.
