The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudein, Ph.D., GCON, and the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, CFR, have extended their warm congratulations to the Super Falcons, Nigeria’s Women’s National Football Team, on their resounding victory at the 2024 Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Final in Rabat, Morocco.
Speaker Abbas described the Super Falcons as spectacular in the final match, which saw a comeback win against the host nation. He thanked and commended the Nigerian team for defeating their Moroccan opponents, saying they have further cemented their position as champions of Africa. The Speaker called for appreciation of the Super Falcons by the Nigerian Government and urged Nigerian athletes to continue to be loyal to their country.

Deputy Speaker Kalu commended the team’s passion, unmatched skill, and undeterred spirit, noting that the triumph is not just about a trophy but a symbol of the diligence, resilience, and unstoppable rise of women in sports, governance, and other areas of life and endeavors. He pledged continued parliamentary support for sports development in Nigeria.
Both leaders hailed the team’s dedication and resilience, which led to a thrilling comeback of a 3-2 goal margin that put the Super Falcons ahead of the host nation and ultimately gave Nigeria the deserved victory. The National Assembly leaders saluted the Super Falcons for flying the Nigerian flag high and making the nation proud.
