House of Representatives Pays Tribute to Two Former Lawmakers: Sidi Ali and Ayogu Eze

The House of Representatives is mourning the loss of two esteemed former lawmakers, Sidi Ali and Ayogu Eze, who passed away on Thursday. Both individuals were highly respected for their contributions to Nigeria’s political and journalistic landscape.

Sidi Ali, a Second Republic lawmaker and journalist, served as a member of the House of Representatives from 1979 to 1983, representing Dambatta Constituency. He was a prolific writer and elder statesman who inspired generations of journalists with his professionalism and insights on politics. Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, described Ali as a brilliant mind from Northern Nigeria and a good ambassador of the National Assembly.

Ayogu Eze, a senator from 2007 to 2015, represented Enugu North Senatorial District. He was a journalist-turned-politician who served in various capacities, including as Senate Spokesman, Commissioner for Information and Culture, and Federal Commissioner of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission. Speaker Abbas remembered Eze as a fine gentleman who served his country with zeal and commitment.

The House of Representatives extends its condolences to the families, people, and governments of Kano and Enugu States, respectively, and prays for the repose of the souls of these two illustrious individuals. Their contributions to Nigeria’s development will be deeply missed, but their legacies will continue to inspire future generations.
