General Musa Attends Africa Chiefs of Defence Conference, Meets with US Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff


General Christopher Gwabin Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of Nigeria, participated in the African Chiefs of Defence Conference held on June 25, 2024.

Themed “Together on the Rampart: Expanding Cooperation and Sharing Values,” the conference was co-hosted by USAFRICOM and the Botswana Defence Force.

The conference serves as a regular meeting for African Chiefs of Defence Staff to collaborate and address security challenges across the continent.

It officially commenced with an opening address by the President of Botswana, His Excellency Dr. Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi, and saw participation from representatives of approximately 42 countries.

Prior to the conference’s official start, General Musa engaged in a bilateral meeting with General Charles Brown Jr., the United States Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff.

The discussion focused on critical security issues and mutual benefits for both nations.

During the conference, General Musa served as the lead panelist on discussions regarding “Peacekeeping, Counterterrorism/Violent Extremism, and Crisis Response Operations.

The panel aimed to enhance operational readiness through the adoption of best practices and the integration of technology for effective results. Other key panels addressed security sector governance and civil-military relations.

The conference marks a significant step in fostering international military cooperation and enhancing security measures across Africa.
