Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has underscored the imperative for commanders across all levels of the Nigerian Army to vigorously pursue the army’s transformational agenda.
Speaking at the COAS Ramadan Iftar (Breaking of Fast) 2024, General Lagbaja emphasized the crucial role of transformation in enabling the army to effectively fulfill its constitutional duties.
The COAS Ramadan Iftar, an annual event organized by the Department of Army Administration, serves as a platform for the army’s leadership to connect with Muslim personnel during the holy month of Ramadan.
General Lagbaja utilized the occasion not only to engage in socializing with senior officers and non-commissioned officers but also to directly address personnel concerns and challenges.
Acknowledging the significance of Ramadan and the prayers offered by personnel for the Nigerian Army, the Armed Forces, and the nation, General Lagbaja urged attendees to internalize the lessons of Ramadan.
He reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to ongoing transformation efforts aimed at enhancing its capabilities and readiness to tackle contemporary security challenges in collaboration with sister services and security agencies.
Highlighting the visible infrastructural developments within army barracks and work environments, General Lagbaja assured personnel that those yet to benefit from these improvements would do so in due time, urging patience and perseverance.
As the Ramadan period nears its conclusion, General Lagbaja called on personnel to include in their prayers the troops deployed in frontline operations, their families, and the nation’s leadership.
