Gaidam Urges Transparency in Nigeria Police Academy Admission Process


The Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, has called on stakeholders to ensure that the admission process for the Nigeria Police Academy is transparent and adheres to the core values of the institution.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Ministry of Police Affairs headquarters in Abuja, Gaidam emphasized the importance of fairness and integrity in the selection of candidates for the 2024/2025 Regular Course 11 session.

Addressing the gathering, which included key figures from the Nigeria Police and Police Academy, Gaidam acknowledged the challenges and expectations of the upcoming admissions process.

He stressed the need to maintain the integrity of the process, noting that the Academy must continue to produce candidates who embody the ideals of justice and service.

“The upcoming admissions process presents us with a unique opportunity to select individuals who are not only academically qualified but also possess the integrity, resilience, and dedication required to serve our communities effectively,” Gaidam stated.

He highlighted the critical role that stakeholders play in shaping the future of law enforcement in Nigeria, emphasizing that their collective efforts will determine the quality of future police leaders.

Gaidam encouraged stakeholders to contribute their insights and recommendations to ensure the admission process is improved and any challenges are addressed.

“We must remain focused on our shared goal: to cultivate a new generation of police officers who are not only skilled but also compassionate and committed to serving the public with honor,” he added.

The meeting was attended by top officials, including the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, DIG Hashimu S. Argungu (Rtd.), the Permanent Secretary, Mr. James Sule, and the Commandant of the Police Academy, AIG Sadiq I. Abubakar.

Together, they discussed strategies for enhancing the 2024 post-UTME examination and refining the admission procedures for the Nigeria Police Academy.

The Minister reaffirmed the importance of transparency and excellence in the Academy’s recruitment and training process, stressing that the framework established this year will set the standard for future admissions.
