Former Minister Hadi Sirika Denies Corruption Charges, Granted Bail

Former Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, appeared in court today, vehemently denying allegations of corrupt practices involving a substantial sum of N4.135 billion, as charged by the Federal Government. Alongside his daughter, Fatima, son-in-law Jalal Sule Hamma, and a company, Al Buraq Global Investment Limited, Sirika pleaded not guilty to the six-count charges brought against them.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is prosecuting the case on behalf of the federal government. Following their pleas, the defendants’ lawyers moved applications for bail, which were granted by Justice Sylvanus Oriji. The three defendants were admitted to bail in the sum of N100 million each, with two sureties in the like sum.

The court has scheduled the trial for November 11, setting the stage for a thorough examination of the allegations and a determination of the defendants’ guilt or innocence.
