In a significant move, Fordmarx donated solar-powered boreholes and irrigation systems to all states in Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory, signaling a commitment to environmental sustainability and social responsibility.
The donation ceremony of a solar powered borehole in Abuja to residents of Peace village in Lugbe, saw participation from government agencies, local communities, and non-profit organizations, all pledging to collaborate for water security and sustainable development goals.
Mr. Nnaji also unveiled plans to create 50 million jobs through solar-powered irrigation and increase access to potable water for all Nigerians.
He highlighted the theme of “Leveraging Water for Peace” and emphasized the detrimental impact of water contamination on public health.
The Fordmarx boss also called on warring nations to cease fighting and embrace peace as connoted in the theme for this year’s celebration.
Acknowledging the persistent challenges in Nigeria’s water sector, Mr. Nnaji attributed them to inefficient governance systems and corruption. Fordmarx aims to contribute to solving these issues by donating solar-powered water boreholes and irrigation projects across the nation.
