In a swift and commendable operation, the operatives of the FCT Police Command’s Rapid Response Squad 74 (RRS 74) successfully intercepted a potential child trafficking scheme in the early hours of Friday, February 9th, 2024.
The interception led to the rescue of twelve underage children and the subsequent arrest of three suspects.
The operation unfolded at approximately 12:55 am when the RRS 74 intercepted a Toyota Hiace bus bearing registration number APP 489 XE. Inside the vehicle was Muhammad Isah, a resident of Kafanchan, Kaduna, who was found transporting twelve minors—four males and eight females—to a destination later identified as being in Ogun state.
Upon preliminary investigation, it was discovered that the children, aged between 5 and 16 years, hailed from Akwanga LGA, Nasarawa State.
They were allegedly being trafficked by Pastor Simon Kado and Jesse Simon Kado, who are currently in police custody pending further legal proceedings.
Efforts are underway, in collaboration with the Nasarawa State Police Command, to reunite the rescued children with their respective families.
Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, emphasized that the safety of residents remains a top priority for the police force.
He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the designated emergency lines: 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653, and 08028940883, or through the Police Control Room: 09022222352.
