Federal Lawmaker Donates 100 Wheelchairs to Persons with Disabilities in Adamawa

A donation of 100 wheelchairs was made to persons living with disabilities in Adamawa State by Muhammad Inuwa Bassi, the Member representing Ganye Jada and Mayo-Belwa Federal Constituency in the National Assembly. The wheelchairs were distributed to beneficiaries from four local government areas, aiming to enhance mobility and support livelihoods.

The distribution ceremony was attended by the Chairman of Jada Local Government, Salihu Muhammad So’owho, who represented the federal lawmaker. He noted that Inuwa Bassi has a consistent record of supporting people with disabilities and urged beneficiaries to use the wheelchairs appropriately.

The Coordinator of Jada–Ganye–Mayo Belwa–Toungo Cooperative Initiative (JAGAMATO), Mr. Dishion Daniel, described the donation as significant, emphasizing that persons with disabilities are often neglected despite their potential to contribute to the economy.

Comrade Abdullahi Toungo, Chairman of the Persons With Disabilities Association in Adamawa State, expressed gratitude for the lawmaker’s continued support, recalling previous empowerment programs and business skills training provided to the community.

Beneficiaries, including Hafsat Abubakar from Mayo-Belwa and Joshua Iliya from Toungo, thanked the donor, stating that the wheelchairs would positively impact their daily lives and economic activities. The donation was carried out in partnership with the Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre based in Jos, Plateau State.
