Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have arrested two suspected armed robbers following a foiled robbery operation at Royal Court Estate, Jahi II.
The suspects, identified as Rabiu Jubril and Ibrahim Isa—both residents of Tipper Garage, Jahi—were apprehended in the early hours of Wednesday after a gun duel with police officers from the Mabushi Division who responded swiftly to a distress call at about 3:20 a.m.
According to the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the suspects attempted to flee the scene with gunshot wounds but were subdued and arrested after a hot pursuit.
Items recovered from the suspects include two locally made firearms and three suspected stolen vehicles: a black Toyota Matrix (NBS 348 CP), a black Toyota Venza (ABJ 105 AV), and a grey Lexus IS350 (RSH 295 CB).
Electronic gadgets including two MacBook Pro laptops, a Lenovo laptop, an iPad, a PlayStation 4 console, a Canon IP1224 camera, and a drone camera were also recovered.
The suspects are currently in custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ajao S. Adewale, psc, mnips, commended the operatives for their swift response and urged residents to take proactive security measures. He particularly advised the installation of tracking devices in vehicles to aid recovery in cases of theft or robbery.
