The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command says it recorded major breakthroughs in its fight against crime between May 1 and June 30, 2025, with the arrest of 82 suspects and the rescue of 21 victims across various parts of the territory.
Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, disclosed that the achievements were the result of a coordinated action plan guided by the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
The plan included extensive crime mapping, identification of hotspots, and deployment of strategic policing initiatives. 
A total of 49 cases were recorded within the two-month period, including incidents of kidnapping, armed robbery, theft, fraud, rape, and child trafficking.
In the course of these operations, seven kidnapping cases led to the arrest of 17 suspects, while five kidnapping attempts were foiled in areas such as Apo Waru, Karshi, Kawo-Bwari, and Abaji. Three suspects were arrested and three others neutralized during a shootout at Kawo village clinic in Bwari.
The Command also reported five armed robbery cases resulting in the arrest of 17 suspects. An additional five attempted robberies were thwarted, leading to six arrests and the recovery of four vehicles, a jackknife, military camouflage, and pistol ammunition.
Other arrests included nine suspects for theft, five for car theft, four for “one-chance” robbery, two for fraud, one for attempted homicide, and one for illegal possession of firearms. 
Twelve rape cases were reported, with ten suspects arrested and four cases still under investigation. Four cases of child trafficking were transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), leading to the arrest of eight suspects. Two domestic violence cases were also recorded.
In terms of rescue operations, the police successfully rescued three children from trafficking syndicates, eight abandoned babies who were handed over to social welfare services, and ten rape victims.
The Command recovered a cache of arms and ammunition including three AK-47 rifles with magazines, two LAR rifles, a pump-action shotgun, a Beretta pistol, a locally made pistol, and 36 rounds of live ammunition.
Other exhibits recovered from crime scenes included an axe, nine walkie-talkies, a sharp spear, a short knife, two motorcycles, 27 iron rods, nine mobile phones, 11 power banks, three AirPods, a smartwatch, eight ATM cards, six phone chargers, and a Sumac fireman generator. A total of ₦79,000 cash was also recovered from a theft case.
Ten stolen vehicles were recovered by the Durumi, Kubwa, Central Police Divisions, and the Anti-One-Chance Squad. Two motorcycles were also recovered from suspected kidnappers.
The Commissioner stated that the Command, buoyed by these successes, would intensify community policing, intelligence-led operations, targeted clearance missions, and public enlightenment campaigns in the coming months to address emerging security challenges in the FCT.
He assured residents of the Command’s commitment to maintaining peace and security across the territory, vowing to continue taking the fight to criminals wherever they may be.
