The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has launched an investigation into a fatal train accident that claimed the life of an unidentified woman along the Gwagwa-Idu railway line.
According to a statement issued by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the incident occurred on March 24, 2025, at about 11:00 AM. Police officers responded to a distress call reporting an unconscious female on the railway tracks behind Zeberced Company, Idu.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the lifeless and disfigured body of a woman, believed to have been struck by a moving train.
The remains were immediately evacuated to Kubwa General Hospital, where she was confirmed dead. Efforts are currently underway to identify her and locate her relatives.
In response to the tragic incident, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Operations, Isyaku Sharu, urged residents to exercise caution around railway tracks and adhere to safety regulations. The police also called on anyone with relevant information about the deceased to come forward.
