In a determined effort to combat the sale and consumption of illicit drugs, operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, under its Anti-Narcotics Unit, conducted a series of coordinated raids on illegal drug hotspots across the FCT.
The raids targeted four key locations: SDP Junction in Gwagwalada, Lugbe Federal Housing near Tipper Garage, Wuse Zone 5 by Access Bank, and AYA Roundabout.

These areas were identified as hubs for criminal elements involved in drug-related activities.
During the operation, suspects attempted to flee upon sighting the police but were quickly apprehended.
The exercise led to the arrest of eight suspects and the recovery of significant items, including 100 rounds of live 7.62 x 39mm ammunition, a large quantity of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis, and a substantial amount of encapsulated illicit drugs.
The FCT Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents, stating that these raids are part of ongoing efforts to eradicate the menace of illicit drugs within the territory.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, urged residents to support the fight against drug-related crimes by reporting suspicious activities promptly.
Reports can be made at the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency hotlines: 08032003913, 08028940883, CRU: 08107314192, and PCB: 09022222352.
