The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has taken proactive steps to ensure the safety of residents during the upcoming Independence Day celebrations on October 1st.
In a statement issued today, the Command announced the strategic deployment of personnel and security equipment across key areas in the FCT to guarantee a smooth and secure celebration.
The deployment includes officers from the Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) unit, anti-riot teams, and visibility policing efforts, all aimed at maintaining public order during the festivities..
In addition, there will be traffic diversions in areas expected to attract large crowds, such as the Central Area and Eagle Square, where major events will be held.

SP Josephine Adeh, the Police Public Relations Officer, reiterated the Command’s commitment to ensuring a hitch-free celebration, urging the public to cooperate with law enforcement officers.
