In a significant development aimed at curbing crime in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the police operatives attached to the Utako divisional headquarters have successfully arrested six armed robbery suspects.
This operation took place on June 16, 2024, following credible intelligence reports.
The suspects, identified as Abubakar Adams, Ismail Salisu, Yusuf Bello, Nasiru Saidi, Sani Usman, and Ibrahim Kasa, are notorious for their involvement in the “one-chance” robbery technique.
This modus operandi involves deceiving unsuspecting residents into boarding their vehicle or tricycle, subsequently robbing them of their valuables, and ejecting them from the moving vehicle.
The arrest was precipitated by numerous complaints from victims who had fallen prey to these criminals. The victims reported losing mobile phones, money, gadgets, and other personal belongings.
Upon apprehension, the suspects confessed to the crimes.
The police also recovered several exhibits, including light weapons such as cutlasses and knives, along with a mobile phone believed to be stolen from a victim.
Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh emphasized the ongoing nature of the investigation and reiterated the command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
He also urged the public to remain vigilant and make use of the police emergency lines to report any suspicious activities.
