FCT Police Arrest Notorious Gang Leader Over Marriage Dispute Murder

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has apprehended a notorious gang leader, Abubakar Idris, also known as Nishi, along with his accomplices, Buhari Saidu and Musa Ahmadu Suleiman, in connection with the brutal murder of Ibrahim Danfulani.

The arrests mark a significant victory in the fight against violent crime in the FCT.

The murder, which occurred on November 27, 2024, stemmed from a personal dispute.

According to police investigations, Nishi was angered by Ibrahim Danfulani’s intentions to marry a woman in whom he had made significant financial investments. Consumed by jealousy and frustration, Nishi, along with his accomplices, attacked Danfulani with knives, leading to his tragic death.

Adding to their crimes, the gang also stole 18 cows belonging to the victim, which they reportedly took as compensation for Nishi’s perceived financial losses.

The breakthrough in the case came when Nishi, who had fled the scene, was tracked down and arrested in Nasarawa State. Reports indicate that he was in the process of recruiting new gang members to carry out another heinous act: the murder of the woman at the center of the dispute.

The swift and coordinated response by the FCT Police Command, with crucial assistance from residents of the Agaita community in Karu, ensured the arrest of all suspects.

The trio is currently in police custody and will face prosecution.

Speaking on the development, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.

She also encouraged residents to report any suspicious activities or criminal elements to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency lines: 08061581938, 08032003913, 08028940883, CRU: 08107314192, PCB: 09022222352.

This decisive action by the FCT Police underscores their resolve to bring perpetrators of violent crimes to justice and ensure the safety of all residents in the territory.
