FCCPC Summons owner of Chinese Supermarket who allegedly Denied Nigerians Patronage.

In recent times, there have been several reports of discrimination against Nigerians by foreign-owned businesses in the country. The latest of such cases is the incident that occurred at a Chinese Supermarket along Airport Road in Abuja.

The viral video of a Nigerian lady being denied access to the supermarket sparked outrage, and the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) swiftly swung into action. During a fact-finding mission to the supermarket, the Director of Surveillance and Investigation at the FCCPC, Mrs Boladale Adeyinka, stated the need for foreign businesses to adhere to non-discriminatory practices in Nigeria.

The owner of the supermarket was summoned by the FCCPC, but sadly, he had fled before their arrival. In response, the FCCPC has given the owner until Wednesday to make himself available for necessary investigations.

It is imperative for foreign business owners to understand that discrimination against Nigerians is not only unacceptable but also a punishable offense. The FCCPC has been working tirelessly to ensure that consumers are protected and that traders and producers comply with its regulations.

It is time for everyone to embrace non-discriminatory practices, as it is an essential component for creating a conducive and peaceful business environment in Nigeria. All business owners, irrespective of their nationality, must work together with regulatory bodies to ensure that consumer rights are protected, and that discriminatory practices are eradicated from our business landscape.
