Deputy Speaker Urges Foreign Investors to Comply with Nigeria’s Labour Laws


Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has called on foreign investors, including those from Qingdao, China, to adhere to Nigeria’s labour laws and international best practices while operating in the country.

Receiving a delegation from Qingdao Municipal Council, led by Mr. Wang Luming, Kalu emphasized the importance of compliance with labour laws, citing instances of non-compliance by some foreign companies in Nigeria. He assured investors of the parliament’s commitment to creating investment-friendly legislative frameworks and oversight.

Kalu expressed eagerness to engage in meaningful discussions with the Qingdao Municipal People’s Congress to actualize the House’s 8-point legislative agenda, promoting mutual benefit and deepening bilateral relations. He highlighted opportunities for cooperation in trade, vocational training, and cultural exchange, expressing gratitude to the Ndigboamaka Progressives Market Association for facilitating the meeting.

The Deputy Speaker reiterated the House’s commitment to providing a conducive legislative environment, encouraging investment and growth in both nations. He urged Qingdao enterprises to comply with Nigerian labour laws, ensuring a mutually beneficial partnership.
