In a show of solidarity and condemnation of the brutal murder of three soldiers in Aba, Abia State, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, visited the 144 Infantry Battalion Headquarters in Asa, Ukwa West Local Government Area. Kalu, accompanied by members of the House and Peace In South East Project (PISE-P), denounced the senseless killing and backed President Tinubu’s directive to find the perpetrators.
In a statement by Levinus Nwabughiogu Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Speaker. Kalu appealed to the military to maintain their non-kinetic approach and avoid harming innocent residents while searching for the culprits. He announced the establishment of a Fund for families of fallen security operatives in the South East, with an initial donation of N10 million from PISE-P and his office.
Brigadier O. O Diya, Brigade Commander of the 114 Battalion, assured Kalu that efforts are underway to apprehend the killers and ensure justice is served.
The visit and condemnation aim to promote peace and support the military in their non-kinetic approach to conflict resolution.
