Deputy Speaker Kalu Advocates for Fairness in African Union Commission

In a recent address at the Joint Orientation Workshop for the Committee on Audit and Public Accounts, Committee on Rules, Privileges and Discipline, and Committee on Monetary and Financial Affairs of the Pan-African Parliament, Deputy Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, emphasized the need for fairness, equity, and equal allocation of slots and opportunities in the African Union Commission (AUC) among member countries.

Kalu stressed that the AUC should ensure fair treatment for all member states, expressing concerns over the commission’s handling of appeals. He noted that the principle of equality should be upheld, allowing individuals from all member states to have equal opportunities.

The Deputy Speaker’s call for fairness and equity is timely, considering the African Union’s goal of promoting unity and cooperation among its member states. Kalu’s remarks also highlight the importance of transparency and accountability in the decision-making processes of the AUC.

As a member of the Pan-African Parliament, Kalu’s advocacy for fairness and equity is crucial in promoting the interests of Nigeria and other member states. His commitment to upholding the principles of equality and justice is a testament to his dedication to serving the people of Nigeria and the African continent as a whole.
