As part of its commitment to equipping military officers’ wives with essential skills for personal and professional growth, the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA) organized a comprehensive training session on emotional intelligence in Abuja.
The DEPOWA President, Mrs. Oghogho Musa, who declared the session open, emphasized the vital role of emotional intelligence in fostering resilience, building meaningful relationships, and promoting harmony in various aspects of life.
In her opening remarks, she stressed the importance of self-awareness, emotional management, and cultivating positive relationships as critical tools for personal fulfillment and community growth.

Describing the training as a strategic initiative, Mrs. Musa stated that the program was designed to empower military officers’ wives with the skills needed to thrive in society.
She urged participants to approach the sessions with an open mind and to apply the insights gained to their daily lives.
The training covered a range of topics, including Protocols for Armed Forces Spouses and the Practical Applications of Emotional Intelligence, tailored to address the unique challenges faced by military families.
Speaking on the topic of protocols for Armed Forces spouses, Mrs. Victoria Irabor, wife of the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, encouraged the attendees to always represent the military community positively by adhering to proper protocols.
She highlighted the importance of observing these practices to maintain unity, respect, and the esteemed traditions of the Armed Forces.

The training session provided attendees with valuable tools and strategies to address the unique demands of military life, fostering personal growth and community development.
