The Honourable Minister of Defence, H.E. Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday in London.
In an official condolence message issued in Abuja, Minister Badaru described the death of the elder statesman as a profound national loss, noting that the late President Buhari served Nigeria with “unwavering dedication and commitment.”
“On behalf of the Ministry of Defence and the Nigerian Armed Forces, I convey our heartfelt condolences to the family, government, and people of Nigeria, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on the passing of Former President Muhammadu Buhari,” the Minister stated.
He praised Buhari’s leadership qualities, particularly his strong commitment to democracy, national unity, and the anti-corruption war that defined much of his public service.
“We remember his dedication to democracy, stability, and the unity of our nation, as well as his unwavering commitment to the anti-corruption crusade, which endeared him to many Nigerians,” the statement added.
Minister Badaru prayed for the repose of Buhari’s soul, saying, “May Allah grant him Aljana Firdausi and provide his family and all Nigerians with the fortitude to bear this great loss.”
