DECAN Mourns the Death of Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja


The Defence Correspondents’ Association of Nigeria (DECAN) has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja.

Known for his unwavering patriotism and commitment to Nigeria’s security, Lt. Gen. Lagbaja’s death marks a significant loss to the Nigerian Armed Forces and the nation as a whole.

In a statement released by DECAN, the association praised Lt. Gen. Lagbaja’s lifelong dedication to Nigeria’s peace and sovereignty, calling him an embodiment of “commitment, valor, and unwavering patriotism.”

The association highlighted the impact of his leadership on the Nigerian Armed Forces, emphasizing how he inspired both military personnel and civilians alike through his steadfast devotion to protecting national unity and security.

DECAN extended heartfelt condolences to Lt. Gen. Lagbaja’s family, the Nigerian Armed Forces, and all Nigerians grieving this profound loss. “We stand in solidarity with our brave men and women in uniform who continue to uphold the values that Lt. Gen. Lagbaja so passionately defended,” the statement read.
