CP Igwe Orders Immediate Inquiry into Attack and Killing of Retired Brigadier General


The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Commissioner, CP Benneth C. Igweh, has initiated an immediate and thorough investigation following the tragic attack and killing of retired Brigadier General Uwem Harold Udokwere.

The incident occurred in the early hours of June 22, 2024, at Sunshine Homes Estate, where armed robbers fatally assaulted the retired military officer around 3:00 a.m.

CP Benneth Igweh expressed his deepest condolences to the family of Brigadier General Udokwere and assured them, as well as the public, of swift and decisive action.

“We will leave no stone unturned to bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice,” he vowed, highlighting the police command’s commitment to ensuring justice and maintaining public safety.

In his statement, CP Igweh also emphasized the FCT Police Command’s dedication to enhancing the security framework of the nation’s capital.

He noted that strategies are continuously being adapted to address and combat the evolving nature of criminal activities within the territory.

The FCT Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, conveyed that updates regarding the investigation will be provided as they become available.

The law enforcement community remains on high alert, working diligently to ensure that such a tragic incident does not recur and that the citizens of Abuja can feel secure in their homes and communities.
