CP Ibrahim Bakori Appointed as Kano State Commissioner of Police


The Police Service Commission (PSC) has appointed Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori as the new Commissioner of Police for Kano State. This appointment follows the promotion of the former Commissioner, Salman Garba Dogo, to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police.

CP Bakori, who hails from Katsina State, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Prior to this appointment, he served as the Commissioner of Police in charge of Homicide at the Force Investigation Department in Abuja. 

His extensive career includes positions such as Commander of the Bayelsa State Joint Task Force (Operation Doo Akpo), Assistant Commissioner at the Special Protection Unit of the Force Headquarters in Abuja, Assistant Commissioner at the Criminal Investigation Departments in both Bayelsa and Rivers States, Principal Staff Officer to the Inspector General of Police, and Commanding Officer of the 17 Police Mobile Force in Akure.

The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, retired Deputy Inspector General Hashimu Argungu, has tasked CP Bakori with ensuring peace and security in Kano State.

He emphasized the importance of swiftly addressing crime and promoting the freedom of movement and security for enterprises within the state. DIG Argungu also recommended that CP Bakori conduct a comprehensive crime mapping of Kano State to implement a focused and effective security strategy.

The PSC has assured that it will monitor CP Bakori’s progress and provide the necessary support to ensure his success in this critical role.

The approval of his appointment has been communicated to the Inspector General of Police for implementation, as stated in a letter signed by the Secretary to the Commission, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani.

CP Bakori’s extensive experience and the PSC’s commitment to supporting his efforts are expected to enhance the security landscape of Kano State.
