Conducive Work Environment Boosts Productivity – Pheelangwa


The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Mr. Richard Pheelangwa, has emphasized the importance of a conducive work environment in enhancing staff productivity. He made this statement during a familiarization tour of departments, offices, and facilities in the Ministry on December 1, 2025.

Pheelangwa stressed that a good working environment is essential for staff well-being and organizational performance. He noted that staff spend most of their day at work, and a conducive environment makes them happier, healthier, and more productive.

The Permanent Secretary commended the Ministry for its organized structure and expressed satisfaction with the level of orderliness observed during the tour. He assured staff that his administration will prioritize their comfort and provide necessary tools for enhanced service delivery.

Pheelangwa assumed duty on November 26, 2025, and has been engaging with Directors and Heads of Units to understand the Ministry’s operational needs. His tour aimed to assess working conditions and interact directly with staff.

The Ministry is committed to creating a supportive work environment, recognizing its impact on staff productivity and overall performance. Pheelangwa’s visit underscores the importance of staff welfare in achieving organizational goals.
